Team SpaceIL is a private non-profit venture competing in the Google Lunar X Prize (an unmanned private r...ace to the moon). We believe that a victorious participation in this competition is a national mission that will promote scientific awareness amongst Israeli youth, as well as develop the Israeli space industry -- a key element in Israel’s economy and national security. The American space program sparked the imagination of an entire generation in the U.S. We hope that our project will inspire Israeli children in a similar way. Our goal is to win the competition in order to direct the spotlight back towards science and to donate the prize to promote scientific education in Israel.
about the speaker
Founder and CTO of Space IL, graduate of the space studies at the international space university held in NASA Aimes, presently working as a satellite system engineer at the Israeli Aerospace Industry (IAI). Yonatan is completing his master’s thesis at Tel Aviv University in the framework of the Adi Lautman interdisciplinary excellence program. In his spare time, Yonatan teaches high-school students aerospace engineering at the Herzliya science center and participates in other educational programs for youth.
